X-mas presents!

I got this Hellboy Ouija board for my office exchange present. This is my best office gift.... EVER! I'm a big fan of Mike Mignola's work and all that paranormal stuff... so this is like, two gifts in one. Thanks, Bill R.!

This Locke figure by McFarlane Toys is a present to myself. ;) I saw this in a toy store and I just got to have it. The details and likness are incredible. Unfortunately, there are only a few joints; the head and arms tilts a little.... that's it. But if you're a Lost fan... you got to get it. I want to get Hurley and Jack next!
So that's just a couple of neat things I got on X-mas. Anyone got any cool loot?

Illustration Friday: Help

This one is for the Pudget Sound Energy workers that are still trying to restore powers to thousands of homes, that got their electricity knocked out during last thursday's wind storm, in Seattle. Thanks for helping us out guys and we appreciate all your hard work!

No electricity!

Washington got hit with a nasty wind storm thursday evening. Trees came down and took out electricity in 750,000 homes and businesses. Well, guess what... I'm one of them. So, for the past few days, I've been bouncing around from different relatives to find a warm bed at night.

There is some progress to bring power back to the Seattle area but it haven't reach my house yet. :(

Anyway, that's all for now.

*UPDATE: Finally! The power is back on Monday morning!!! After four days of no electricity, all the food in the refrigerator need to be thrown out. So more shopping is in order and get my life back on schedule.

Holiday Art Jam

Augie organized another Art Jam, Dec 16th in Georgetown! Purchase some art by the local artists, as X-mas presents for your friends and family. Come check it out if you're in the Seattle area!

*UPDATE: Looks like the Art Jam 2 was another big success. Unfortunately for me... I was out of town due to the power outage. :( Go to Augie's blog to check out some photos from the event!

Illustration Friday: Mask

Sometime, we put on a happy face to mask our sadness....but eventually, your true feeling will surface. Best to deal with it instead of hiding from it.
This piece is more serious then my other work. Probably, because of the all sad news I've been watching. :(

Hiro the Hero

My pal Travis did some comic pages for "Heroes"... now availible on the web. Click HERE to check it out!!! Travis did page 3, 4, and 5 of Chapter 11: Fathers and Daughters. I'm a big fan of his work and I'm so happy that he got this major comic gig. Go get 'em Travis... you rule!

Below is my quick doodle of Hiro from the show... manga style. I'm so delighted that there's an asian main character on TV. And he's a comic geek too!! :)

Illustration Friday: Smoke

When I think of smoke, it reminds me of the noir films. So I did a private eye on a stake out... smoking to pass the time.

Most Haunted Live

Hope everyone have a good Halloween. It was quite dark and cool in the Seattle area and lots of little ghouls roam the street for treats. If you're like me and like watching ghost investigation on TV, than you might've catch Most Haunted Live on the Travel channel the last few nights. This is an UK production reality show where Yvette and her team (which include a psychic) go to different haunted locations. The show is more entertainment than scientific. For example, whenever there's a sound... everyone swears and run away. Not the most professional investigators but definitely entertaining. :)

Grudge

I saw Grudge 2 this weekend. They got some visually interesting scenes.... but the story (or lack there of) was so bad... I got to give this one a "thumbs down". I thought the first one was way better.

Heroes

Last night I watched a show on NBC called, "Heroes." The basic plot is a group of people around the world, discover that they have super powers. So far they only introduced the first patch of heroes and you get a peek at what each can do. The show also hinted at a potential villain and disaster that'll happen to NY .

The show definately holds my interest. The characters are interesting, especially the Japanese desk jockey that became a teleporter, Hiro Nakamura played by Masi Oka. I'll be catching the next show for sure and hope it will get bigger and better.

I did a quick wallpaper of Niki Sander (Ali Larter) for the PSP. Just click on the image, then right click to save to your computer or in the photo folder of your PSP.

Sad news...

Let me start from the beginning. I used to live in Kelso and one of my grade school friend is Lori Hamm. When I moved to Chicago for a year, we wrote each other a few times. My family moved back to Kelso then to Chehalis and that was my last contact with Lori. Fast forward to today, in my studio... I just hooked up a tv and listening to the news. Then I heard these words, "... Lori Hamm... murdered.." For some reason, I never forgot her name. I went on the web and found this site. http://lori.4ourangel.com/ The suspect that did this horrible crime is caught. Sigh... looking back, I wish I kept in touch with Lori. Not sure what else to say except my condolence to Lori's family.

Illustration Friday: Portrait

Remember the school portrait you used to get. Each time I did it... there's always one thing that went wrong like the hair is out of place, zits broke out, eyes half way shut, bad facial hair, or wearing some lame clothes. This pic is the combo of all of that... yikes!

Check out more great art at Illustration Friday.

Spooky Sammy sketch

Spooky Sammy is a character that I would like to develop more. She started out in my short micro comic from my first time at the artist alley, at the Seattle Con.... about 4 years ago. I hope to bring the character back in a regular comic size format someday.

Super Real sketch

One of the cool thing about going to the con, is to meet other artists. At the Emerald con, I got to talk to Jason Martin Of Super Real comic. He's a really nice guy and we drew in each other sketch book. Above is the sketch I got from Jason... check out my Perry Platypus on the hat. :)

Jason also dropped off a few copies of Super Real #2 with my cover art! That was the first time I saw it in print. Inside is a interview of me.... god, I hope I don't sound like a dweeb. If you see it in the comic store, please pick it up. For more Super Real action... check out Jason's site and blog!

Emerald City ComiCon 2006

Emerald City ComiCon 2006! Karin and Suzanne selling everything in their inventory. Check out Karin's site for more con photos.

What's a comic con without storm troopers? These guys were awesome. They came by my table and chat with me and Paul for a few minutes. Found out that their helmets have a built in mike system so you can hear them talk, just like in the movies.

From the left... it's Shane, Gene, and Bart. On the right side and not in the picture.... it's Paul, Augie, and Dev's table . Overall, I had a great time at the con. Friday night, I was so busy preparing that I only got a couple of hours of sleep. I hang in there and had a good time talking to folks and doing sketches. The not so good thing was the attendance. It was noticeable less this year. This is the first time the convention opened in April and with the weather being nice... folks just did other stuff outside... that's one theory anyway. Well, who knows... I still had a great time hanging out with my art pals and fellow comic geeks.

Again, thank you Paul for providing the pics.
